Smart looking? Check
Good Performance? Check
Good Equipment? Check
Prestigious Brand? Check
The only surprise here is that it isn’t higher up on the list – it is more pricey than most on the list though….
9 – Mercedes Benz C-Class
Another top 10 entry from the German brand. Quite a feat considering neither Audi or BMW crack the top 10 at all….
8 – Mini Hatchback
Not much has changed on the mini since it was re-launched in 2007 but it remains a popular choice with U.K buyers.
7 – VW Polo
The first of 2 entries in the top 10 for the popular car brand. VW may lack behind its German stablemates in terms of prestige but consistently produces stylish, well built cars which are available for less than the equivalent BMW, AUDI or Mercedes. UK buyers clearly approve.
6 – Vauxhall Astra
The first of 2 entries for the Grififn Badge. Sales were down for Vauxhall in 2017 partly to do with strategic decisions made by PSA the owners of the Vauxhall brand. We also suspect that the design is now becoming a little stale and UK buyers are looking for a refresh
5 – Vauxhall Corsa
See above.
4 – Nissan Qashqai
Nissan’s ever popular crossover SUV continued to provide strong sales. A recent facelift has breathed new life into the model. Nissan is coming under increasing pressure in the segment with VW, Vauxhall, Alfa Romeo, Seat and others all entering the affordable mini SUV Market. It will be interesting to see if it can maintain it’s market share in 2018.
3 – Ford Focus
Ford makes it’s first appearance in the top 10 at a lofty third with it’s mid range Focus offering. UK buyers clearly approve of the styling, equipment, performance and price point. The range also benefits from its racy counterparts the ST and RS.
2 – VW Golf
VW makes its second appearance in the top 10 with the supremely popular VW Golf. Well built and well equipped its easy to see why. A strong range of engines and ample space mean this is a true all rounder.
1 – Ford Fiesta
Top spot once again goes to the Ford Fiesta. The mini hatchback continues to be the U.K’s most popular car and indeed Ford remain the most popular car brand overall. Strong 2017 sales prove that Ford have come up with the perfect mix of style, practicality and performance. Most engines will suit your average family and there is even a ST or RS version for those who require a little more excitement. Can it remain king in 2018? It will certainly have it’s work cut out!
Next time we will be reviewing the most anticipated cars of 2018 but for now, we also share with you the worst performing car brand of 2017 – please guys, avoid stocking at all costs!!
With the lowest total sales figure across it’s whole range, the worst performing car brand of 2017 goes to……
Chevrolet – with a total of 70 new cars registrations in the whole of 2017 – however, that is still a massive improvement over the 4 they managed in 2016 though…..
